Pasig candidate for congressman Atty. Christian Sia apologized and explained his intention behind his viral ‘single mom joke’.

Caucus meetings for the upcoming May 2025 Elections are happening left and right now. Amid the fast-approaching local and national midterm elections next month, there are candidates who are faced with issues now.

Pasig candidate for congressman Atty. Christian Sia is one of the election candidates caught in a controversy. The lawyer-politician was bashed due to his ‘solo parent joke‘ during a campaign rally.

At the event, Pasig congressional bet jested that annually, single moms who still have their monthly period and are lonely may sleep with him. According to him, those who are interested may have their name listed on the table on the side.

The audience at the campaign event laughed at the joke of Atty. Sia. Later on, he clarified that his remark was a joke as he is married. However, to many netizens on social media, it is something that should not be a subject of a joke,

Countless members of the online community bashed Atty. Christian Sia. The Pasig candidate previously claimed it’s only a joke and he was intensely bashed for it. According to him, he is a “five star general” online now when it comes to rudeness because of his joke.

Recently, the lawyer-politician apologized over her single mom joke that elicited anger from several netizens online. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Pasig candidate for congressman claimed that the people should not be mad at him rather to the uploader of the video.

According to the lawyer, the reaction of the audience during the caucus meeting was not included in the video that was posted. He stressed that the crowd laughed because of his joke.

“Wag po kayo magalit sakin, magalit po kayo sa gumawa ng video… Ang nakita lang sa video yung sinabi, pero yung reaksyon ng tao, hindi nakita na tumawa, yun lang ang purpose ng joke,” the Pasig candidate said.

Based on the report, Atty. Christian Sia claimed that he joked to get the attention of the bored audience at the campaign event. According to him, many people have already spoken before him and he wants to shock the bored audience to get their attention.

“Yung mga tao naiinip, na ayaw na makinig, so ginugulat ko lang ng joke so yung atensyon napupukaw,” he said.

The lawyer-politician apologized to those who were offended by his joke on single moms. Actress-politician Ara Mina was also criticized for laughing along on the joke.
