Netizens Bash Pasig Candidate for Election for Joke on Women Solo Parents
Pasig candidate for congressman Atty. Christian Sia defended his controversial joke about women solo parents in the city.
Countless Filipinos are gearing up for the upcoming May 2025 Midterm Elections. The election day is on May 12 and both local and national elections are set to take place. Currently, the candidates are in double time campaigning for the upcoming poll.
As the May 2025 Elections draw near, campaign sorties and caucus meetings are taking place left and right. Most politicians spread awareness about their platforms and promises to the people through the campaign events.
Some candidates speak with a serious note before the people while others includes jokes and satirical statements as they speak to the crowd. However, recently, a Pasig candidate for congressman earned the backlash of the netizens for his ‘solo parent’ joke. He is Atty. Christian Sia.
At a caucus meeting, Atty. Christian Sia joked that women solo parents who still have their period and feel lonely may sleep with him once a year. The Pasig candidate for congressman said that those who are interested may have their names listed.
The crowd at the caucus meeting laughed at the joke of the lawyer who is seeking a congressional seat. Later on, he clarified that he is married and it was only a joke.
However, countless netizens did not like the joke of the Pasig candidate. There are those who described it as an insult towards solo parents who work hard to raise their children alone. There are calls for a public apology.
Recently, Atty. Christian Sia broke his silence amid the online bashing he received over his ‘solo parent’ joke. Based on a post on the official page of Daily Tribune, the Pasig candidate for congressman stressed that it’s only a joke.
“Sa mga kapwa ko Pasigueño, ang biro ay manatili hong biro. At ang seryosong bagay, huwag mong haluan ng biro,” Sia said.
According to the Pasig candidate for congressman, he is in the political arena in the city for 15 years already and has even went against the politically-powerful clan of the Eusebios but he was never branded as proud and rude not until now following his joke. He stressed that he is the rudest person online now for what happened.
“Huwag po sanang ilihis ang isyu ng eleksyon. Ang eleksyon ho ay hindi tungkol sa akin, kundi tungkol po ito sa kinabukasan ng mga Pasigueño,” the lawyer said.
One of the popular personalities who was also present at the caucus meeting was Ara Mina who was bashed for laughing along on the solo parent joke.
