Concerned Employer Seeks Help From Online Community for Household Helper Who Suffered Stroke

A concerned employer seeks help from the online community for her household helper who suffered a stroke.

Recently, Ishie Villaruel, a Facebook user, turned to social media to seek help for her household helper, Rebecca Galicia, who suffered a stroke on March 30, 2025. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

According to Ishie, Rebecca suddenly felt weak and experienced numbness on the left side of her body. She was immediately rushed to TriCity Medical Center, where tests confirmed that she had suffered a stroke.

The doctors advised that she be placed in the ICU, but there were no available beds. The hospital also required an immediate deposit of P40,000 just for the first day of ICU care.

With no other choice, the family sought help from other hospitals. They were referred to East Avenue Medical Center but were turned away due to a lack of facilities. The search continued as they went from one hospital to another, including QCGH, Quirino, and Jose P. Reyes Memorial Hospital.

Unfortunately, all were either full or unable to admit Rebecca due to more critical cases waiting ahead of her.

From 4 PM to 3 AM, they searched tirelessly for a hospital that could provide the necessary care. Even after reaching out to the Department of Health, they were told that there was no guarantee of admission anywhere.

In the end, doctors suggested that Rebecca be taken home for temporary care due to the overwhelming hospital situation.
