VP Sara Duterte Relays Message of Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for Supporters
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President told his supporters through his daughter not to interfere and talk about his International Criminal Court (ICC) case.
Amid the criticisms it received over the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Malacañang maintained that it does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC in the Philippines. The Palace stressed that the government acted on the arrest of the former President in lieu of its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

Malacañang says on the possible interim release bid of Duterte, it would remain to not recognize the ICC jurisdiction in the Philippines. The statement angered countless Duterte supporters as the foreign court and the Philippine government have to coordinate in case the camp of the former President will apply for an interim release.
The confirmation of the charges against Duterte is set on September 23 — still months away from now. Currently, there are countless Duterte supporters who call on the government to bring the former President home.

The children of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte also asked the Supreme Court to order the return of their father. Currently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is in The Hague to support her father and to set his ICC legal team.

Daily, there are several Filipinos who gather outside the ICC detention facility to show support for former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is under a regular detention. He was monitored for several days at the hospital wing of the Hague Penitentiary Institution before he was placed under a regular detention.

Recently, former Pres. Duterte celebrated his 80th birthday. Countless Filipinos not only outside the ICC detention facility but as well as the Philippines and in other countries across the globe gathered to celebrate and show their support for the former President.
Amid the outcry of the Duterte supporters on the controversial arrest of the former President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte relayed the message of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte asking his supporters not to interfere and talk about the ICC case.
“He said let’s not interfere in his case at the International Criminal Court. Let us let his lawyers and the court itself decide on what will happen or what will be followed as part of the court processes,” the Vice President said based on a report on Inquirer.
Former Pres. Duterte requested his supporters to show their anger and support to him by not talking about the case. According to the report, the Vice President spoke about her father’s request at a gathering of the Filipinos outside the ICC detention facility.
“He said, if you want to express your support, if you want to express your anger or if you want to express your satisfaction, he said, let’s not talk about the case and let’s not talk about what’s happening in the case,” she said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that her father is “feeling better” inside the ICC detention facility. VP Sara also claimed that Duterte is charming everyone inside.
