Group of Minors Nabbed After Attacking Couple Inside a Public Jeepney

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – A group of minors attacked a couple inside a public utility jeepney in Quezon City.

On the evening of March 5, 2025, a group of minors attacking a couple inside a passenger jeepney in Quezon City was caught on camera and elicited various from the online community. The incident took place on the northbound lane of EDSA-Balintawak.

A witness named Em Sy, captured the incident on video. In the footage, several young individuals were seen running out of the jeep while one person was being kicked inside. Due to the commotion, some passengers rushed out of the jeepney to avoid harm. Barangay Unang Sigaw’s Public Safety team, led by Dennis Delos Reyes, immediately pursued the suspects but they managed to escape.

However, five of them, aged 13 to 17, were later identified and located through the viral video.

According to the investigation, the attack was motivated by revenge and jealousy. Reports revealed that the couple had connections to a group from Malabon involved in a previous stabbing incident using an ice pick.

The assault was allegedly an act of retaliation. Additionally, jealousy and rivalry among the youth also played a role in the attack.

Authorities decided to turn over the five minors to the Social Services Development Department. Delos Reyes acknowledged the ongoing challenge of youth-related violence in their community and assured residents that they are reinforcing security measures, including stricter curfews and regular patrols.

‘Yung nakarating sa aming report, dahil doon sa kabataan na hinagod daw ng ice pick doon sa area ng Apolonio Samson. Then nagkaroon ng sumubungan sa mga kaibigan para sila gumanti. Then ang nasabi din sa aming report kanina, dahil sa mga selosan dahil sa mga syota-syota nila, tsaka inggitan doon sa grupo nila,” Delos Reyes said.

Barangay officials reminded parents to closely monitor their children to prevent them from engaging in violence or criminal activities. They emphasized the importance of discipline and guidance to ensure the safety and well-being of the youth and the community.
