Customer Furious Over P2,000 Charge for Tempered Glass: “Sa Shopee 150 lang”

Customer Slams Cellphone Store Employees Over P2,000 Charge for Tempered Glass

A male customer became furious after being charged P2,000 for a tempered glass screen protector, which he later discovered was priced at only P150 on an online shopping platform.

A tempered glass screen protector is a thin layer of specially treated glass designed to protect a smartphone or tablet screen from scratches, cracks, and other damage. It is made by heating glass to high temperatures and then rapidly cooling it, making it more durable and resistant to impacts than regular glass.

Recently, Kemp Mnl Doble, a Facebook user, shared a video of a foreign customer angrily confronting employees at a cellphone store inside a mall. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

In the video, the foreigner can be seen yelling at the store employees and even slamming his phone on the counter in frustration. According to the uploader, the customer was furious after realizing he had been charged significantly more for the screen protector installation.

He argued that he could have purchased the same item online for a fraction of the price. His outburst continued for several minutes.

Some netizens defended the store, explaining that mall rental fees contribute to higher prices. Others sympathized with the customer, criticizing overpricing in mall-based stores.

One user shared that they paid P2,500 for a similar product, which included a phone case, and found it to be high-quality and durable despite the cost. Another mentioned that they were quoted P700 but later found the same item at a much lower price online.

While some netizens criticized the foreign customer for overreacting, others believed that businesses should practice fair pricing.

The video shows the ongoing debate about pricing differences between physical stores and online shops, as well as the importance of checking prices before making a purchase.
