Darren Espanto defended AC Bonifacio against online bashing
It’s Showtime host Darren Espanto was aware of the bashing that his best friend AC Bonifacio, one of the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition housemates, has been receiving.
AC was chosen to be part of the current season of the Kapamilya reality show in collaboration with GMA Network. Almost two weeks after the show was launched, AC became one of the most trending housemates, and most comments about her were negative.
Although her fans would defend her online, it was noticeable that she received more bashing than praise.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Darren Espanto, who is known to be one of AC Bonifacio’s closest friends, was asked about the bashing on social media against the actress-dancer.
The It’s Showtime host was asked if it would be boring if he and AC were in the PBB house together. Darren answered, “Feeling ko hindi ganun kadami ang isyu niya ngayon kung nasa loob ako ng bahay kasama niya. Pero, of course, we’re all rooting for her,” he said.
The Kapamilya singer knew about the negative comments about AC because some netizens would tag him and their other friend, content creator Niana Guerrero. “Ayun nga, kami ni Niana nagte-text also, we’re checking up on AC’s mom,” Darren shared.
Then, he defended AC. Darren stressed that it appears that AC and other housemates are just being misinterpreted of how they talk and act inside the PBB house.
The singer also shared that some netizens would tag her and Niana, asking if they did not know AC was like this or that. Darren pointed out that he has been best friends with AC for eight years now and that he knows her inside and out. Darren Espanto said, “So I know the backstory to what she’s doing inside the house.”
The singer also shared that they were affected when AC Bonifacio is being bashed online. However, he stressed that he will not tolerate his best friend if she has done something wrong. “And at the end of the day, we still support her,” he added.
