Bato Dela Rosa Admits Hiding is Option he may Consider if ICC Issues Arrest Warrant

Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on Looming Arrest Warrant from ICC

BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator admitted that hiding is one of the options he may consider in the event of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is now under the custody of the ICC after several years of the international court wanting to investigate his administration’s war on drugs. The former Philippine President is now detained at the Hague Penitentiary Institution.

The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was tagged by Sen. Bato dela Rosa as a “betrayal to the max” by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to the lawmaker, the Chief Executive did not stand by his words on the issue of the Duterte admin and the ICC.

Dela Rosa stressed that Marcos Jr. allegedly betrayed the Filipino people and the country for his move. According to him, he has both anger and sadness over the arrest of FPRRD.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that legal process was followed in the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to him, the Philippine government acted on the arrest not because it was the ICC that issued the arrest warrant but because of its commitment with the Interpol.

Previously, Sen. dela Rosa expressed that he is ready to join Duterte in the Hague if all legal remedies have been applied but they failed. According to the Senator who was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the heightened implementation of the war on drugs campaign, he is ready to take care of the former President at the ICC detention facility.

However, recently, it seems that there is a change of mind on the part of former Sen. Bato Dela Rosa. Based on a report on GMA News, he admitted that hiding is one of the courses of action he might consider in case the ICC would issue an arrest warrant against him.

“Well, kung wala tayong makita na na hustisya dito sa ating bansa, bakit ka susuko? ‘Di ba?” the Senator said.

Based on the report, Sen. Bato dela Rosa was directly asked if he is thinking of hiding from the authorities in case the ICC issues a warrant of arrest against him. According to the Senator, it is part of the course of action.

“Kasama ‘yan, kasama ‘yan. Kasama ‘yan sa courses of action natin,” Dela Rosa said.

Previously, Sen. Dela Rosa expressed that he will avail the protection that the Senate can provide him in case the ICC issues a warrant of arrest.
