Ogie Alcasid has no experience when it comes to joining singing contests
OPM icon Ogie Alcasid revealed the reason why he did not join any singing contest during his younger years.
Many singers in the Philippine music industry started their careers through singing contests on television. Some even started amateur singing contests in their barangays or barrios, until they reached the national level.
For many Pinoy singers, this has become their training ground. Their talents were honed by various singing contests, the failure and triumph they had during the first steps to reach their dream to become famous singers.

Ogie Alcasid’s wife Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez is a good example of an artist who was a product of a prestigious singing competition.
However, Ogie did not have any experience in this matter. He shared in a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, that he never joined a singing contest.
“Real talk. I wasn’t built for this. I never won a singing contest. You know why? Because I never joined one (laughs). Because I knew there were so many other that were better than me,” the seasoned singer-songwriter shared. With this, he shifted to writing songs and eventually singing these songs.
Ogie also mentioned that he does not regret anything in this point of his life. Years ago, he admitted that he would feel disappointed if an opportunity that he thought was meant for him but he would not have it. However, right now, he will just take whatever is for him.

Ogie Alcasid also said that at the end of the day, he is just thankful to have his family, he has a wonderful wife and children. The singer-songwriter said that his loved ones are his priority and everything else is just secondary.
Meanwhile, Ogie, as one of the hurados of It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan, expressed excitement about the new format. He said that this singing contest is probably the most difficult one because contestants had to sing over and over again until they reach the finals.
