Malacañang Reacts To Claims over Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte during Detention
MALACAÑANG – The Palace denied that claims that former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was allegedly not given proper medical care.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was unexpectedly arrested upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Tuesday. He was from Hong Kong where he attended a Thanksgiving party together with the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) members abroad and the PDP-Laban bets.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the Philippine government is obliged to act on its commitments with the Interpol and he stressed that there was a legal process in the arrest of the former President. The Philippine National Police (PNP) helped the Interpol in the arrest of the former Chief Executive.
Duterte was detained for several hours before he was asked to board a flight to Dubai. According to Pres. Marcos, he will be brought to The Hague in The Netherlands.
Amid the detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, his youngest daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, claimed that the authorities allegedly deprive her father of the proper medical attention he needs. Senator Bong Go also said that the blood sugar level of the former Chief Executive shot up.
According to Sen. Go, the doctor of former Pres. Duterte advised for his confinement to avoid acute diabetes complication. He stressed that the former President has several illnesses already.
Recently, Malacañang reacted to the claims that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was allegedly not given proper medical care. Based on a report on GMA News, the Palace denied the claim.
”Hindi po ‘yan totoo dahil nu’ng panahon po na siya po ay nasa kustodiya na po, ang pagtrato po sa kanya ay ‘di po basta-basta,” Malacañang Press Officer Undersecretary Attorney Claire Castro said.
Malacañang stressed that it is not true that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was not given medical attention. In a statement released by the Presidential Communications Office that confirmed the arrest of the former President, PCO also stated that Duterte was checked by a doctor to ensure he’s in good health.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte believes that his arrest can lead to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s presidency. The Vice President flew to the Netherlands where her father is set to be brought.
