SARA DUTERTE’S FORMER SPOKESPERSON – Attorney Michael Poa has filed his entry as part of the legal team of the Vice President in challenging an impeachment case against her through a petition filed before the Supreme Court.
Countless Filipinos await what’s going to happen next regarding the impeachment moves against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The House of Representatives has given its green signal on the impeachment of the Vice President and it is now up to the Senate on the trial.

Based on the proposed timeline released by Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero over the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the impeachment trial might begin on July 30. However, the Congress is now on a session break and the senators would have to decide on the schedule.
According to the Senate President, the recent timeline released is “not set on stone” but was issued ahead so the lawmakers can review it. Escudero said they will decide on the matter when the session resumes in June.

Meanwhile, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero assured that his office reviews the rules of impeachment even though they are on a session break. According to him, they are also drafting the amendments.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero also welcomed the offer of Sen. Koko Pimentel to help in the drafting of the rules for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial. Amid the Senate preparing for the trial, the Vice President has filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the fourth impeachment case filed against her.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is one of the lawyers of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who signed the petition filed before the Supreme Court. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s former spokesperson, Attorney Michael Poa, joined the 7-member legal team of the Vice President.

Based on a report on PhilStar, Atty. Michael Poa filed his entry of appearance as co-counsel for the Vice President as confirmed by the Supreme Court’s Office of the Spokesperson. According to the lawyer, he made the decision following discussions.
“In my view, the petition filed before the Supreme Court also raises constitutional questions/concerns that need to be addressed,” Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s former spokesperson said.
Atty. Michael Poa and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte first worked together in the Department of Education. He was the chief of staff when she was the DepEd secretary. Following her resignation as the education secretary, he also resigned only to return as the spokesman of the Vice President.
However, when the House of Representatives started investigating the OVP, Atty. Michael Poa said he is no longer connected with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office.
