BASTE DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor sees that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is “unbothered” by the impeachment issue.

Four (4) impeachment complaints were filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The complainants include religious members, civic society leaders, lawyers, and lawmakers. The House of Representatives approved the impeachment of Duterte.

It is now up to the Senate on the impeachment trial against the Vice President. There are calls for the upper chamber, most especially Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, to speed up the impeachment trial’s commencement.

Previously, Malacañang explained that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will be in an “awkward position” to call for a special session over Duterte’s impeachment trial. According to Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, the President is being linked to the impeachment issue.

Castro further said that it’s better if it would be the senators to pen a letter to the Chief Executive for the special session request. As for Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, there is allegedly no need for a special session.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero has released a proposed timetable for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on the proposed timeline, the impeachment trial will start on July 30.

Recently, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, in his “Basta Dabawenyo” podcast, spoke about the impeachment issue involving Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to the brother of the Vice President, his sister is not affected based on what can see.

“I see that the Vice President is unbothered,” Mayor Baste said.

The Davao City Mayor also believes that the impeachment issue is allegedly a “panic response” of the Marcos administration over the controversy in the 2025 General Appropriations Act. He claimed that it is used to get the attention of the people.

“They do not have an answer, so they looked for an issue to throw so the people’s attention could revolve around it,” the Davao City Mayor said.

Mayor Baste Duterte also believes that the lawmakers who signed the impeachment of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte only did it for their own sake and have not consulted their constituents about it. He is confident that his sister will get pass the issue.

The vice presidential brother stressed that the Vice President has a strong legal team. Her legal counsels include their father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte; her father-in-law, Lucas Carpio Jr.; Roberto Batungbacal, Philip Sigfrid Fortun, Sheila Sison, and Gregorio Narvasa II.

Mayor Baste Duterte stressed that they are ready to face the accusations against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who reportedly stands strong amid the legal turmoil.
