Statement of Malacañang on VP Sara Duterte’s Message to Cebuanos
MALACAÑANG – The Palace issued a statement on Vice President Sara Duterte’s statement to the Cebuanos telling them about the ‘right to show anger to the government’.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is undeniably one of the most controversial politicians in the Philippines now. The House of Representatives has previously approved her impeachment after 2/3 of the lawmakers backed the fourth impeachment complaint against her.

Currently, there are calls for the Senate to start the impeachment trial the soonest time possible. Amid the issue, Malacañang said that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will be in an “awkward position” if he will request for a special session over Duterte’s impeachment.
The Palace stressed that Marcos Jr. is accused to be the person behind the impeachment moves against Duterte. The rumors are on the surface despite the President’s previous pronouncement that he is against the filing of an impeachment complaint against the VP.

The relationship between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has visibly deteriorated. It was since she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) and left the Marcos cabinet that the public started witnessing a souring relationship between the 2022 Election runningmates.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has been throwing tirades against Pres. Bongbong Marcos since she left the helm of DepEd. Recently, Malacañang was once again left disappointed by the statement of the Vice President.

Based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang is saddened with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte telling the Cebuanos that they have the right “to show their anger to the government”. The Palace sees it as allegedly an encouragement that should not come from the vice president.
“Unang-una nakakalungkot po na mula sa pangalawang pinakamataas na lider ng bansa ay mukha pang nag-eencourage siya sa mga tao na magalit sa gobyerno,” she said.
According to Malacañang Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, when Pres. Bongbong Marcos found out about the statement, the Chief Executive had no reaction. The Press Officer stressed that such statement should have not come from the vice president.
“Mas maganda po sana kung siya ay mag-eencourage sa mga tao na makipagtulungan lang instead of having this feeling of hatred against the government,” the Palace official said.
Based on the report, Castro further said that it will be better that we all improve in our lives instead of bringing down the government. The Vice President has yet to react to the statement of the newly-appointed Palace press officer.
Recently, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero released an order to the Senate offices to prepare for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
