Hardworking Woman Suffers Brain Aneurysm
A hardworking woman reportedly suffered a brain aneurysm, allegedly caused by stress and overworking.
Recently, Erika Duran, a hardworking entrepreneur, suffered a brain aneurysm caused by the rupture of blood vessels in her brain.
Duran had always considered herself a workaholic. She frequently pushed herself to the limit, often losing sleep and stressing over work. For a long time, she endured severe headaches but ignored them.
Last November, however, these headaches reached to a critical point. Erika suddenly experienced a seizure and lost consciousness at home. Alarmed, her family rushed her to the hospital, where she was placed in the ICU and required intubation to save her life.
Doctors diagnosed Erika with arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a congenital condition that creates abnormal connections between the brain’s arteries and veins. This abnormality disrupts proper blood flow, which, in some cases, can cause a rupture.
Stress, lack of sleep, and overworking may have contributed to the increased pressure on her brain, triggering the rupture.
The woman underwent emergency open brain surgery to remove the blood clot caused by the rupture. The operation was risky, and doctors warned her husband that there was no guarantee she would fully recover.
Miraculously, Erika woke up from surgery with minimal complications, though the road to recovery remains long.
Now taking a break from work to focus on her healing, Erika shares her story to remind others of the importance of slowing down and prioritizing health. She emphasizes that while hard work is admirable, overworking at the expense of one’s well-being is not worth it.
“Noong sinabi sa husband ko na puwedeng maoperahan o puwedeng matanggal, pero walang assurance na babalik ako sa normal. Hindi sure kung ano ang matatamaan na ugat, kung makakapagsalita pa ba ako o makakapaglakad o makakakita. Sobrang thankful lang kasi noong naoperahan ako, noong nagising ako, ito na ako ngayon actually,” Duran said.
