Construction Worker Wanted for Murder Arrested After 30 Years in Hiding

Authorities have arrested a 52-year-old construction worker who had been on the run for over three decades due to a murder case.

Police served the warrant of arrest at his residence in Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City.

According to police reports, the suspect evaded capture for more than 30 years. Initially, he hid in Biliran, Leyte, before eventually settling in Quezon City under different aliases to avoid detection.

Col. Francis Siriban said.

Records from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) indicate that the crime occurred in Sta. Ana, Manila, back in 1993. The victim, a man, lost his life after an argument escalated, leading to a fatal shooting. A warrant for the suspect’s arrest was issued in 1998.

The suspect was listed as the second most wanted person in QCPD Station 16. Lumabas po yung warrant year 1998,” Siriban added.

Despite his arrest, he denied involvement in the crime but admitted to going into hiding. He claimed he had been wrongly accused, which made it difficult for him to work and live normally.

Police have already processed the return of the warrant and are awaiting the court’s commitment order for the next legal proceedings.
