Jennylyn has come a long way since she started her career in the entertainment industry through the Kapuso talent search StarStruck. She was the first Female Ultimate Survivor and this opened opportunities for her in showbiz.
Throughout the years, she has done various acting genres. She has proven her caliber in drama, romance, and a bit of action. The actress also shines in the comedy genre.
Jennylyn Mercado‘s new project is in the comedy genre through the movie Everything About My Wife. In an interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, the Kapuso star reacted to being called the “rom-com queen.”
“Siyempre, thankful. Hindi naman lahat ay nabibigyan ng chance na magkaroon ng title na ganoon. Masaya ako na ganoon ang tingin nila,” she said.
Her latest rom-com movie also features her husband Kapuso drama king Dennis Trillo and Kapamilya actor-singer Sam Milby.
In the movie, Jennylyn gave life to the character of Imo whose husband Dom, played by Dennis, was already unhappy with their marriage. Sam portrayed the role of Miguel who is known as a notorious womanizer.
When their lives intersected, they discovered each other’s strengths and weaknesses. “‘Yung role ko rito ay typical na misis. Nagsimula sa ligawan at naging mag-asawa. Pinakita kung anong nangyayari sa isang mag-asawa,” Jennylyn shared.
The Kapuso actress also shared that she had a fun time working with Sam. She said that the Kapamilya actor is easy to work with and is a good person. It was a pleasant and beautiful experience for her.
Aside from being an actress, Jennylyn Mercado also ventured into producing. She produced her latest movie and she said that she still has a lot to learn in this field. She shared that right now, their production company is not that big yet. The actress found excitement in collaborating with other productions.
