Nadine Lustre Calls Out Disrespect in Siargao & Corruption in Government
NADINE LUSTRE – Actress Nadine Lustre did not hold back as she shared her concerns about how locals in Siargao are being treated by some tourists and the worsening national situation.
Nadine Lustre recently shared a strong message expressing her disappointment over the alleged mistreatment of locals in Siargao, environmental destruction, and the current state of governance in the Philippines.
In a lengthy message posted through her Instagram broadcast channel, Nadine opened up about issues she has been seeing online that have reportedly left her deeply frustrated and concerned.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about how respect goes far beyond politeness. I think it’s consciousness. A way of moving through the world with awareness,” Nadine wrote.
The actress particularly called attention to the alleged treatment of residents in Siargao, where she has been living in recent years. According to her, some visitors appear to lack respect for the people who call the island home.
“You see it in the disrespect locals here on the island continue to receive. The way some people come here and treat locals as if they are below them,” she said.
She also expressed sadness over incidents involving “aggression, entitlement, violence, and complete disregard for the community.”
“It’s painful watching people treat this island like a temporary playground while the people who actually call it home are left carrying the consequences,” she added.
Her remarks came following reports regarding alleged “disrespect and environmental abuse” by some tourists visiting Siargao. Allegations have also surfaced involving claims that some Israeli nationals allegedly harmed pro-Palestine locals on the island.
Beyond concerns about Siargao, Nadine also criticized the Philippine government, describing it as “such a blatant shitshow.”
“It’s so obvious that so many of them are just toying with us, treating people like we’re too blind to notice the corruption, incompetence, performative concern, and endless cycle of disappointment,” she said.

The actress also expressed concern about the reported cutting of trees in the name of “development” and “progress.”
“It’s unsettling watching people destroy the very things that keep us alive so casually, as if nature is just another object to consume, reshape, or remove whenever it becomes inconvenient,” said Nadine.
She likewise condemned cruelty toward animals, saying, “People intentionally [harm] innocent beings that have done absolutely nothing to deserve cruelty.”
Despite her frustrations, Nadine ended her message with a call for compassion, awareness, and respect toward people, nature, and animals.
“At the end of the day, the world doesn’t become gentler on its own. We have to choose it,” she said.
Nadine has long been known for openly expressing her social and political views, including speaking out against online misinformation. She was last seen in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry “Call Me Mother.”
