Grade 7 Student Touches Many Hearts for Borrowing P10 from Teacher to Buy Food

Teacher’s Kind Gesture Toward Grade 7 Student in Need Goes Viral

A grade 7 student touches many hearts online for borrowing P10 from his kind-hearted teacher to buy food.

On Sunday (January 26, 2025), Threads user “angaramyoren” posted a photo of a note from one of her Grade 7 students asking to borrow P10. The note read, “Ma’am myo ren pede po ba ako umutang ng sampung piso nagugutom na po kasi ako.”

The teacher, who is a TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education) instructor at a public school, explained that this wasn’t the first time the student had asked for money. She shared that during a break, the student approached her with a note requesting money to buy food.

Myo Ren had often helped the student before, sometimes lending money for snacks or fare, though she never accepted repayment.

Instead of just giving the student the P10 he requested, the teacher decided to give him P100, encouraging him to buy a rice meal to ensure he would be full. When the student returned, he handed her back P90, explaining that he had only bought a biscuit, as that was all he could afford.

The female educator shared that the student often missed school because he didn’t have money for meals, and his mother was working on a solution.

She points out that being a teacher is not just about what happens during class hours. It’s about going beyond the classroom to care for students, even in small ways. She concluded by saying that teaching doesn’t start and end with the bell.

In another post, a teacher shares how her first-grade students apologized

FULL POST:

“I am a Junior high school TLE Teacher, public school, my students are all in Grade 7. I also have advisory class, one advisee gave me this letter while I was taking my break at recess time na rin ng mga bata. This is not the first time that this student asked for 10.00, minsan to buy snack or pamasahe at everytime binabayaran nya ako pero hindi ko tinatanggap. This time, I gave him 100.00, told him to buy rice meal para siguradong busog siya
