ALCOHOL ADDICTION– A 45-year-old man from Mangaldan, Pangasinan has passed away after years of excessive drinking.
Alcohol addiction, also called alcoholism, is when a person becomes dependent on alcohol. It means they often crave alcohol and can’t control how much they drink. Even when drinking causes problems in their life, they keep doing it.
People with alcohol addiction may find themselves drinking large amounts regularly and might experience physical or emotional discomfort when they try to stop. Alcohol addiction can also lead to serious health issues like liver disease, heart problems, and mental health struggles.

Recently, a man in Pangasinan dies of excessive drinking of gin, his family is now grieving to his death. According to his sibling, the man would drink up to five bottles of gin every day, a habit that seemed to take a toll on his health.
In September 2024, the man finally decided to visit a doctor after noticing huge weight loss and a bloated stomach. It was during this check-up that he learned he had liver problems, which were linked to his excessive alcohol consumption.
The doctor prescribed medication to help manage the condition, but after just two weeks, the man stopped taking the prescribed medicine and returned to his daily drinking routine.

From morning to evening, the victim could always be seen with a bottle of gin in hand, unable to break the cycle of his addiction. His drinking became a constant presence throughout the day, worsening his condition further.

Authorities have since reminded the public of the importance of drinking in moderation. The dangers of consuming alcohol excessively, like in this case, should not be taken lightly. People are encouraged to prioritize their health and avoid harmful habits, especially when it comes to drinking alcohol.
