Female Netizen Expresses Frustration After Being Scammed of P40,000 by Customer

A female netizen was left disheartened after allegedly being scammed by her customer for P40,000 on GCash.

Recently, Maricar Mondano-Bacsa, a Facebook user, shared her painful experience of being scammed out of P40,000 on GCash by a customer. The post quickly went viral online and elicited comments from the netizens.

Bacsa explained how the scam happened at her pharmacy. A customer wanted to cash in a certain amount through her GCash account, which she offered as a service in her business. After providing her GCash number, the scammer reportedly linked it to Lazada, triggering the fraud.

The customer tried multiple times to cash in and sent Maricar proof of the transaction each time. The scam was timed perfectly with the OTP (One-Time Password) notification, which appeared on Maricar’s phone just as she handed it over for verification.

The suspects used the opportunity to capture the OTP, leading to the scam. After multiple attempts, they were finally able to access the OTP, and the scam was successful, resulting in the loss of P40,000.

Later on, Maricar discovered through the rear dash cam of her car that the two men who scammed her were working together. She reported the incident to the authorities and GCash, but she quickly accepted that the chances of recovering her money were slim.

Maricar offered a piece of advice to others involved in similar businesses, suggesting that they turn off notification banners in their messaging apps to prevent such scams.

The female netizen also mentioned that they would not allow customers to take photos of the phone displaying transaction details, instead, they will now take the pictures themselves to avoid similar incidents in the future.
