PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (December 19, 2024)
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area and amihan will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (December 19, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that a low-pressure area, shear line, amihan brings cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country.

“Dahil kapansin-pansin na gumaganda yung circulation nito at nananatili pa rin sa mainit na karagatan, mataas muli ang tsansa na itong low-pressure area ay maging isang mahinang bagyo or tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” said Estareja.
The LPA (formerly “QUERUBIN”) was last spotted 245 kilometers east of Surigao del Norte. Querubin has weakened into an LPA. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
“Nag-weaken siya kahapon and then kung sakali man, siya pa rin po ‘yon. Same naman ‘yung circulation na minomonitor natin,” he added.

The LPA’s trough will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao. The shear line will bring the same weather over Bicol Region and Quezon.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.
Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will be rough to very rough. The eastern section of the country will experience moderate to rough waters.
Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions over the remaining parts of the country, according to PAGASA.
