PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Wednesday (December 18, 2024)
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Querubin will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Wednesday (December 18, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update. Tropical Depression Querubin and the shear line will bring heavy or intense rainfall in the Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that Querubin was spotted at 230 kilometers kilometers east of Davao City or 205 km east of Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The storm was moving north-northwest at 10 kilometers per hour.

“Querubin is forecast to move generally north-northeastward or northward over the waters east of Mindanao within the next 24 hours,” Aurelio said.
Querubin packs a maximum sustained wind speed of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.
“Although a weakening scenario is expected, possible re-development into a tropical depression may occur once the remnant low of Querubin reaches the West Philippine Sea,” PAGASA added.

Heavy to intense rains are expected over Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
The shear line will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Quezon.
Bicol Region, Quezon, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte will experience moderate to heavy rains.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the northern and eastern sections of the country and the western section of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
