Lito Lapid admits encouraging Coco Martin to run in an election.
This election, Lito Lapid is running for senator again, and recently, he shared that he’s been convincing Coco Martin to run ever since.
The filing of candidacy for the 2025 election was over months ago and one of the celebrities who filed COC is actor-senator Lito Lapid. He is seeking reelection and the upcoming polls will be the reason why he won’t be seen for a while in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
The said series is led and directed by actor Coco Martin and having been able to work with him closely, the veteran actor shared that he’s been convincing him to join the cluster of celebrities-turned-politician ever since FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
According to him, he’s been encouraging Coco to run, and running for senator will be easy for him considering his fame. He believes that he can even run for vice presidency if he wants to because of his influence.
“Sabi ko, ‘Pinakamababa mong tatakbuhan, senador.’ Sa Vice-President, puwede rin siya, e, sa kasikatan niya ngayon,” Lapid said.
However, Coco refused. He is contented wherever he is currently at. He doesn’t really have any plans to pursue a career in politics despite his persistent persuasion.
Meanwhile, Lapid will be bidding for his current position in the Senate again. He won his current Senate seat in 2019 and eyeing for another term is to maximize the allowed consecutive terms by the law. If he wins, this is going to be his 4th term.
As he bids for another term, he plans to expand the “Lapid Law” or Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010. During his filing, he was with Tito Sotto and Ping Lacson, who are both eyeing their return to the Senate. The three of them are part of the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas’ senatorial slate endorsed by the Marcos administration.
