PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ and shear line will bring heavy rains over parts of the country.
On Monday (December 9, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone, the northeast monsoon, and the shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA specialist Rhea Torres reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting Mindanao and the shear line will affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.
“Sa may bandang Quezon, pati na rin sa may ilang bahagi ng Bicol Region or sa may Bicol Region area, as well as yung mga karatig na probinsya dyan po sa Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, pati na rin sa Marinduque, Romblon, as well as sa Oriental Mindoro, magiging makulimlim po ‘yung panahon natin ngayong araw except na lang po, or rather makakaranas din po ng mga kalat-kalat mga pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog dulot ng epekto ng shear line,” Torres said.
The shear line cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, and Aurora.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
“May namamataan din po tayong makakapal na kaulapan na posible pong magdudulot din ng maulan na panahon sa malaking bahagi po ng Visayas at Mindanao, gayundin sa may Palawan, ‘yan po yung intertropical convergence zone o ITCZ,” Torres explained.
Amihan will bring similar weather conditions over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will be rough to very rough. Moderate to rough coastal waters are expected over the rest of Luzon, according to PAGASA.
