Neri Miranda: Complainants’ Lawyer Reacts To Release Order

The court ordered the release of Neri Miranda

Atty. Roberto Labe, the legal counsel of complainants who filed complaints against celebrity entrepreneur Neri Miranda, reacted to the court’s order to release her.

On November 23, Neri was arrested when she was at a convention center in Pasay City after a warrant of arrest was issued against her. This was in line with the syndicated estafa that was filed against her and her alleged violation of the Securities Regulation Code.

Initially, her arraignment was scheduled for January next year, so, it was expected that she would be detained at the Pasay City Jail Female Dormitory until that awaited day happened.

However, on December 4, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said that the RTC (Regional Trial Court Branch) 112 ordered Neri Miranda’s immediate release.

Following this, the legal counsel of the celebrity entrepreneur released a statement confirming their the court granted their motion to quash the warrant of arrest issued against Neri.

Based on the article in PEP, the complainants’ legal counsel reacted to the release order. “Unang-una po ay kasama o kabahagi po yan ng proseso ng ating batas kaya po ay okay lang naman sa amin yung siya po ay pansamantalang nakawala,” the lawyer said.

Atty. Labe also said that he has explained this to his clients and they understood the court’s decision. Then, the lawyer shared the next thing that they would do.

Ayon po sa order po ay magkakaroon po ng preliminary investigation na kung saan siya po ay pinagbigyan ng korte na makisali doon sa preliminary investigation katulad po ng normal na proseso,” he shared.

He added that Neri’s lawyer has been saying that she has not received any complaints. When asked if because of this, they are back to square one, the lawyer said that it is not because the court just junked the warrant of arrest and that the information that she issued still remained.

At ang binigyan lang po ng 60 days na reinvestigation dun sa mismong kaso, magkaroon lang po ng preliminary investigation for 60 days,” the complainants’ legal counsel said.
