Imee Marcos Hopes House Will Be Ordered Not To Push Through w/ Sara Duterte Impeachment

Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Alleged Impeachment Plan vs. VP Sara Duterte

IMEE MARCOS – The presidential sister and Senator expressed her hope that the impeachment plan against Vice President Sara Duterte will not be pushed through.

Previously, ACT Teachers’ Party-List Representative France Castro claimed that an impeachment plan against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is on the works in the House of Representatives. According to the party-list Representative, the impeachment complaint is eyed to be filed this December.

Several lawmakers in the House were left disappointed by the multiple non-appearances of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the hearings set by the lower chamber. The House has launched hearings on the Confidential Funds utilization of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

Currently, there is also a pending summon issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The subpoena was over her remarks that seemingly sparked threats on the lives of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Amid the issues and allegations against Vice Pres. Duterte, the supposed impeachment plan against the Vice President in the House gained different reactions from the Filipinos. One of those who gave their take on the issue is Senator Imee Marcos.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has thrown tirades against Pres. Bongbong Marcos and several other Marcos family members. She even claimed that she threatened to throw the remains of Marcos Sr. into the West Philippine Sea in case the alleged attacks against her don’t stop.

Despite the previous remarks of Duterte against the Marcoses, Sen. Imee Marcos is not in favor of the impeachment plan versus Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the sister of Pres. Marcos stressed that the Filipinos are already divided.

Sen. Marcos also recalled the usual call of her late father, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. According to her, he would always call for one ‘country, one mind’.

“Watak-watak na nga tayo, nagiging Luzon versus VisMin tayo. Ang sagwa kasi laging naririnig ko sa tatay ko, laging sigaw niya talagang ‘isang bansa, isang diwa’… Sa ginagawa at lahat ng nangyayari, lalo na kung matuloy ang impeachment na yan,”

Based on the report, Sen. Imee Marcos also claimed that political conflict may affect the confidence of the investors in investing in the Philippines. She stressed that investors do not like instability or any kind of political anxiety.

“Sana utusan na talaga ang Congress [House of Representatives] na huwag nang pilitin itong impeachment. Kung may kaso magfile ng kaso at huwag nang pagwatak-watakin ang ating bansa. Dahil ito nga, hindi nga nakakatulong,” Marcos said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not also in favor of an impeachment plan against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to him, it will not benefit anyone and will only tie up the Senate and the House of Representatives.
