Sara Duterte, Bongbong Marcos

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte accused the Marcos family of allegedly being the mastermind behind the death of Ninoy Aquino. The late former Senator was shot upon his arrival at the then-Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983.

The death of Ninoy sparked outrage from the Filipinos and led to the EDSA People Power Revolution, a peaceful ouster of the late former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. He ruled the country for over 20 years and his regime is surrounded by countless accusations.

Following the EDSA People Power Revolution, Ninoy’s widow, Cory Aquino, was elected as president of the country. She became the first female president of the Philippines.

The family of Ninoy Aquino issued a statement following the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte mentioning their patriarch’s death amid a feud against the Marcoses. The family stressed that Ninoy is probably the politician who experienced the most pressure under the Marcos administration but he died valuing peaceful resolution.

The family expressed their belief that the Marcoses must be held accountable over the experience of Ninoy under the Marcos regime but they don’t agree on threats. Recently, Ninoy Aquino’s grandson reacted to their family being dragged into the Duterte-Marcos feud.

Based on the report, Ninoy Aquino’s grandson also claimed that he views the Duterte and the Marcos families the same. According to him, they are allegedly two (2) families that make things difficult for the country.

The Marcos family has not reacted on the accusation of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued a statement with regards to the alarming remarks that appear as threats.
