This is how Coco Martin helped his siblings have a better life.
ABS-CBN King Of Primetime Coco Martin shares that as the family’s breadwinner, this is what he did to give his siblings a stable life.
A breadwinner is a person in a family who earns the majority of the income to support the household. There is a fulfilling feeling in helping the people we love but sometimes, it can have a significant mental and emotional toll coming from the stress, anxiety, and pressure of this role.
In the Philippines where “strong family ties” are valued above anything else, being a breadwinner can be challenging. It is common to extend generosity and help each member of the family but for how long? How much is too much in helping and giving?
For Kapamilya star Coco Martin, it seems like there’s no limit for him in helping his siblings. As his family’s breadwinner, his priority was to provide a better and more stable life for each of his siblings.
One factor that forced him to be the head of the family was having no parents.
“Siguro ‘yung isang factor dahil nga wala kaming magulang. Ibig sabihin ‘yung magulang namin, hindi sila ‘yung tumayong magulang sa amin, walang tatayo kundi ako,” he said.
When he started earning good as an actor, his priority was his family. He wanted everything to be neat and organized. He built houses for each of them and even provided businesses for them.
“‘Yung binibigay ko sa kanila ‘yung franchise nung mga ini-endorse ko,” he expressed. He wanted his siblings to live without any worries about how to pay their monthly bills. He wanted to provide peace of mind to them by giving them a regular source of income.
In a previous article, Coco shared he wasted Php 11 million before. This was during the time when he realized that his room was bigger compared to the rooms of his siblings. He is accordingly not happy with this, so, what he did was instruct the people to destroy most of it and redesign.
