All-or-nothing approach
Doing too much in a workout can fizzle your passion for getting fit. Not only that, it can lead also to injury.
These are the signs that you should be aware of that would tell that you are overdoing your workout: You’re dreading the thought of working out, you’ve got an injury or “niggle” and recovery is slow, you are feeling more stressed, and your sleep is poor.
Holding yourself to certain expectations
Experts are reminding people that the first two weeks of any training program should be at “such a low intensity.” It is so low that it almost feels like a waste of time. You can do light cardio, strength work, and range-of-motion conditioning and then, accelerate the activities. Set aside also strict deadlines because this can create a sense of failure when you can’t achieve it yet.
Not sticking to the plan
There are instances that people would keep on changing their workout program too frequently.
Prioritizing numbers (or ego) over form
Comparing yourself to others or what they have down in their workout journey will do no good. Focus on low intensity and light weights first, and eventually the mastering of the form will come and this would be the time you progress up.
Skipping the warm-up
It is never advisable to just jump straight into a workout with cold muscles and joints because this can seriously lead to injury.
Not fueling your body
Exercise and a healthy diet come hand in hand. These two should be a tandem. It would be useless if you just exercise without having a meal filled with nutrients that your body needs.
Avoiding strength training
It is a myth that strength training will make you “bulky.” Lifting weights can help shape your body and you will see definition in your muscles.
