Police Officer Who Held ‘Bring Me Challenge’ Dismissed from Post

A police officer who held a ‘Bring Me Challenge’ with guns and drug addicts was removed from his post.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started investigating a police officer from Talisay City, Cebu, after a viral video showed him conducting a “Bring Me Challenge” involving unregistered firearms and drug users.

The video featured the officer offering cash rewards to anyone who could bring him illegal items or individuals allegedly using drugs.

According to PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, the video was originally posted by the officer on his personal social media account. Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has since ordered the officer to explain his actions and directed that the video be immediately taken down from the platform.

Although the content has already been removed online, the Anti-Cybercrime Group confirmed that it was preserved as part of the official investigation. Authorities said the officer produced the video on his own initiative, using his own money to create content for his Facebook page.

The PNP emphasized that the act was a clear violation of the Police Operational Procedures, which serve as the guiding principles for every member of the force. The challenge not only showed poor judgment but also put the credibility of the police organization at risk.

As a result, the officer has been placed under administrative relief while the investigation continues. The PNP reminded its members to act with professionalism at all times, both on and off duty, especially when using social media.

The incident reminds us that law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard of conduct. Their duty is to uphold the law, not to turn it into entertainment.
