Former Pres. Duterte Confirms “Rewards System” on War on Drugs
DUTERTE – The former President changed his stand on the accusation that his war on drugs was implemented under a “rewards system”.
The war on drugs of the Duterte administration continues to elicit different reactions from the people amid the Senate and the House Quad Committee conducting investigations on it. The upper chamber has just started on its investigation while the House Quad Comm has conducted several hearings already.
However, the House Quad Comm was not able to get the presence of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte until its recent hearing. In the Senate, the former Chief Executive attended its very first hearing.
Senator Bato dela Rosa who expressed a desire to invite Duterte into a drug war hearing claimed that the former Chief Executive is allegedly more comfortable in the Senate than in the House of Representatives.
A House Quad Comm member previously asked if the former President is afraid thus, he does not appear at the hearing set in the lower chamber. It gained a quick response from the former Chief Executive who claimed that the House members don’t scare him a bit.
Following his remarks, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended the hearing set by the House Quad Committee over his administration’s war on drugs. At the probe, he made several revelations and admissions.
Duterte also changed his stand on the accusation that his admin’s war on drugs was implemented on a “rewards system”. At the hearing, he confirmed that a cash reward system was being observed and he claimed that he would even give a little extra sometimes.
“Reward? Correct, very correct, talagang totoo at minsan bigyan ko pa ng dagdag,” the former President said.
The former Chief Executive explained that the cash reward is for a case that has been solved. He stressed that it does not matter whether the suspect was arrested or he/she died. The recent claim of the former President is in contrary to Duterte previously denying that he grants rewards to cops.
