WALANG PASOK – Various local government units have declared class suspensions due to Typhoon Ofel and Severe Tropical Storm Pepito.
On Friday (November 15, 2024), some local governments have announced class suspensions to ensure everyone’s safety as Typhoon Ofel and Severe Tropical Storm Pepito approach the Philippines.
The announcement affects both public and private schools at all levels in numerous areas across Luzon, Visayas, and the Cordillera Administrative Region. The temporary suspensions will help keep students and families safe as both storms bring heavy rains and powerful winds.
Typhoon Ofel, currently near Tuguegarao and moving at 20 kilometers per hour, is expected to bring intense rainfall and damaging winds, especially in northern Luzon. Storm Signal No. 4 is in place for the Babuyan Islands and northern Cagayan, warning of typhoon-strength winds.
PAGASA, the country’s weather bureau, has also issued rainfall advisories, expecting intense rains over Batanes and Cagayan and moderate to heavy rain in Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Abra.
Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Storm Pepito is predicted to intensify into a super typhoon by Saturday evening (November 16). It may make landfall over the Bicol region between Saturday evening and Sunday morning (November 17).
