Security Guard Robbed of Gun & Almost Shot by Two Men in Parola Compound
A security guard was robbed of his gun and almost shot multiple times by two men in Parola Compound.
The guard was simply walking along a street in the area when a man suddenly attacked him from behind. The guard’s service firearm fell to the ground. One of the attackers quickly picked it up, loaded the gun, and tried to shoot the guard several times while another man joined in to beat him up.
Luckily, the gun didn’t fire because it was locked. The police responded quickly and managed to scare the attackers off before they could do more harm.
According to Police Major Philipp Ines of the Manila Police District, the Delpan Police Station acted fast. They quickly formed a tracker team to locate the suspects. During the follow-up operation, one of the suspects was arrested, and the stolen gun was recovered.
“Nung nalaman ito ng mga pulis natin ng Delpan Police Station, nagbuo agad ng tracker team para mahuli itong mga suspek na ito at dun sa course ng follow up operation nahuli natin yung isa sa tatlo,” Ines said.
The 53-year-old victim shared that he was just on his way to buy food when the two men, who appeared drunk, approached him. They first asked for a cigarette, but the guard didn’t have any. The suspects became angry and suddenly started beating him up.
One of them hit him with a helmet, while the other grabbed the gun that had fallen and tried to shoot him.
“Hinampas nako ng helmet ng isa yung sa naman pinulot yung baril ko dahil tumalsik, kinasa niya tapos pilit niya talagang pinaputok sa mukha ko, kala ko nga sir katapusan ko na talaga eh,” the victim said.
The guard thought he was done for, especially when the gun didn’t fire on the first try. The attacker kept trying, though, pulling the trigger several times, but still no shot.
The suspect who tried to shoot the guard is now in police custody, facing charges of attempted murder, robbery, and violations of firearm laws. The police are also working on getting arrest warrants for the other two suspects involved.
