Content Creator Gives Reminder to Condo Unit Owners: ‘Please check your breaker yearly’

Content Creator Reminds Condo Unit Owners to Check Their Circuit Breakers Annually

A content creator has a reminder for condo unit owners to help prevent accidents, saying, ‘Please check your breaker yearly’.

Recently, Mayora Frances, a Facebook user, shared an important reminder for condo unit owners. The post quickly circulated on social media and elicited reactions from the online community.

Mayora shared her alarming experience when she woke up to a strong burnt smell in her condominium unit. Concerned, she immediately searched for the source, checking every outlet and appliance, but found nothing unusual.

Frances even checked the walls, floors, and outlets for any signs of heat. Eventually, she called the condo’s engineering team to investigate, and although they inspected the individual breakers, they too found nothing concerning.

Just as the team was about to leave, the content creator mentioned that she could smell the burnt odor near the main door. The engineers then remembered there was a main breaker in that area. After checking it, they discovered the source: the main breaker was indeed burnt.

It wasn’t due to overloading, pests, or misuse; the engineers believed it was caused by loose wiring that sparked each time an appliance was used, slowly heating up and eventually burning.

Mayora urged fellow condo owners to have their breakers checked regularly, even if they don’t detect any signs of trouble. She emphasized that electrical fires can occur if issues like these go unnoticed.

Although replacing the breaker cost her P6,000, she expressed relief at catching the issue before it could lead to a fire. She also recommended that condo residents request preventive maintenance inspections each year.

The breaker alone costs 6000 pesos and masakit siya sa bulsa huhu but better na rin I saw it now than magkaron ng sunog and I lose everything,” she said.
