PAGASA Says ITCZ and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that intertropical convergence zone and easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (October 17, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Southern Mindanao while the easterlies will be affecting Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas.
The Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan.
Flash floods or landslides are possible in the areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, and Davao Region.
“To our fellow citizens in the Visayas, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day. There is a chance of rain in the morning, noon, and afternoon, especially in the areas of western Visayas and the Negros Island region,” Estareja said.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Eastern Visayas.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the country. The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any parts of the country.
