Project Kalinga’s School-in-a-Boat Sails to Instill Good Manners and Values in Children

The sailing of Project Kalinga’s School-in-a-Boat aims to restore GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct) in children.

Teaching children Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) is essential for their character development and their ability to interact positively in society. It helps them learn respect, discipline, and compassion, guiding them toward becoming responsible citizens.

Recently, the Project Kalinga team, under the Regional Maritime Unit III conducted a lecture on GMRC in Barangay Mabayo, Morong, Bataan upon recognizing the need to restore the values among young generation.

The lecture took place on the first of October, just a few days before the celebration of World Teachers’ Day. It was held for 11 beneficiaries of the “School-in-a-Boat” initiative, a project designed to provide education and life lessons to children and their families in remote communities.

During the session, the discussion focused on the importance of family roles and responsibilities. The team emphasized the importance of love, support, and guidance within the family structure to strengthen the foundation of their homes.

The program is designed not only to teach good behavior but also to enhance family connections and deepen their understanding of each member’s responsibilities.

The School-in-a-Boat project was launched on August 13, 2024 with the aim to deliver education on Good Manners and Right Conduct, love for the country, and environmental care. It focuses on children aged 4 to 7 from underprivileged families living in coastal barangays, particularly those who have been unable to attend school.

The project is part of a larger effort by the Regional Maritime Unit III to reach remote areas and provide essential education to children who need it the most. Through this program, the team hopes to uplift these young minds and empower them with values that will benefit them throughout their lives.
