Inmate in Antipolo City Caught w/ Illegal Drugs After Undergoing Dialysis

A 41-year-old inmate was caught trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the Antipolo City Jail after undergoing dialysis.

According to the Antipolo City Police, the man had his regular dialysis treatment at a private center in Antipolo City on Tuesday (October 1, 2024). Unfortunately, upon his return to jail, authorities discovered the drugs hidden in him.

The police chief, PLtCol. Ryan Manongdo, explained that there appeared to be a plan in place. It seems someone had arranged for the inmate to have drugs attached to his dialysis chair. The inmate later admitted to police that his transaction had originated from Taguig City.

During the dialysis niya, may instructions na, parang may pre-arranged [instructions] na sila na ‘yong uupuan niya during the dialysis ay meron na pong nakakabit doon na illegal drugs,” Manongdo said.

After his treatment, the inmate allegedly took the drugs, hid them in his towel, and brought them back to jail. He expected that he would not be thoroughly checked since he was a regular dialysis patient.

“After the dialysis niya, kinuha niya ‘yon, inipit niya sa towel niya, at ‘yon ‘yong dala-dala niya. Inaasahan niya na hindi na iche-check ‘yong kanyang dala kasi nga siya ay regular na nagpapa-dialysis,” he added.

Authorities seized over 100 grams of suspected illegal drugs, with an estimated street value of around P700,000. Some of the drugs were even wrapped in condoms to keep them waterproof.

The Antipolo City Police are now investigating how the inmate managed to acquire these illegal substances. It was also revealed that he had been incarcerated since September of last year for a previous drug-related offense.
