Grade 12 Student Found Lifeless Inside Lodging House After Meeting Online Chatmate
A Grade 12 student was found dead inside a lodging house in Toledo, Cebu after allegedly meeting with an online chatmate.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, an 18-year-old Grade 12 student, Mae Fatima, was found dead inside a lodging house in Poblacion, Toledo, Cebu, after allegedly meeting with someone she had been chatting with online.
According to reports, Mae was last seen on Thursday, September 19, 2024, when she checked into the lodging house with a man. The staff member, alias Jam, recalled that the pair initially booked the room for 12 hours but later extended their stay.
On Friday morning, around 8 a.m., Jam knocked on their room door but received no response. After getting no answer, he entered the room and found the lights off. At first, Jam thought Mae was sleeping and tried to wake her.
When she didn’t respond, Jam called for help, and it was then they discovered that Mae was lifeless, with a handkerchief tied around her mouth.
Mae’s mother, Evelyn, had warned her daughter not to meet with strangers, especially since the man she was planning to meet had refused to send his photo. Before leaving to drop off her younger child at kindergarten, Evelyn reminded Mae to be careful, but Mae insisted on going.
Her father, Alvin, was distraught when he learned of the incident. The night before, he had gone to her school, thinking she was practicing for a dance rehearsal. He never imagined that something so tragic had happened.
The family is heartbroken and now seeking justice for Mae’s death. Local authorities are actively investigating the case.
