Police Authorities Arrest Motorcycle Rider After Accident, Found with Illegal Drugs
A motorcycle rider involved in an accident in Naga City was arrested after being found in possession of illegal drugs.
The illegal drug problem in the Philippines has been a big issue for many years, affecting numerous individuals. These drugs have caused serious problems, such as increased crime, health issues, and broken families.
Many communities, especially in cities, have seen more violence and crime due to drugs. People struggling with addiction often face health issues, and young people, particularly in poor areas, are more likely to get involved in drug use. This has made the drug problem even worse, as it affects both individuals and entire communities.
Around 11 am on Wednesday (September 18, 2024), a motorcycle rider, identified as Jessie Sabellano from Cebu City, had an accident after hitting a GI pipe lying in the middle of the road along the Naga City highway.
Sabellano sustained minor injuries and was lying on the side of the road when police arrived to assist. However, what started as a routine response to a traffic accident ended up into a drug bust.
As police authorities were investigating the scene, they discovered several packets of suspected illegal drugs scattered near the injured rider. Upon further search, the authorities found more illegal substances in Sabellano’s possession.
The police officers confiscated two medium-sized plastic packs believed to contain shabu and 54 sachets of suspected shabu. Some of these were found in a clutch bag that had been thrown onto the road, while others were scattered across the scene of the crash.
Following the discovery, Sabellano was taken into custody and brought to the Naga City Police Station. He is now facing charges for illegal drug possession. The suspect remains detained as authorities prepare the necessary legal charges.
