PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Scattered Rainshowers Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring scattered rain showers over parts of the country.

On Thursday (September 19, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that southwest monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over parts of Luzon and Visayas. No tropical cyclones are being monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Wala na po tayong bagyong minomonitor sa ating Philippine area of responsibility,” said Estareja.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Antique, Iloilo, and parts of Palawan.

However, asahan pa din po ang pag-ulan ngayong araw dahil pa din ‘yan sa southwest monsoon or habagat,” he added.

Habagat will also bring occasional rains over Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and the entire Mindanao region due to the southwest monsoon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the western section of Luzon will be rough. Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions. Mindanao will have moderate waters.

“Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts (including all motor bancas of any type or tonnage). mariners of these vessels are advised to remain in port or seek safe harbor. For larger vessels, operating in these conditions required experience and properly equipped vessels. Vessel masters, boat captains, ship owners/operators, and coast guard units concerned are advised to take appropriate measures to ensure safety of life at sea,” PAGASA said.
