Some LGUs Declared Class Suspensions for Monday (September 16, 2024) Due to Inclement Weather

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspensions in various areas due to bad weather condition.

As of 3 a.m. on Monday (September 16, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that a Low Pressure Area (LPA) located east of Cagayan is contributing to the inclement weather.

The LPA was estimated to be 375 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, and 400 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Class Suspensions

Due to continuous rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon, several local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes. The precautionary measure aims to prioritize the safety of students and school personnel as heavy rainfall is expected in various regions across Luzon and the Visayas.

WESTERN VISAYAS

Aklan:

  • Kalibo (preschool to tertiary, public and private)
  • Lezo (all levels, public and private)
  • Numancia (all levels, public and private)

Antique:

  • Barbaza (all levels, public and private)
  • Caluya (preschool to secondary, public and private; face-to-face classes at UA-Caluya Extension Campus shifted to modular)
  • Hamtic (preschool to Grade 12, public and private)
  • Libertad (preschool to senior high school, public and private)
  • Patnongon (all levels, public and private)
  • San Jose de Buenavista (no face-to-face classes for preschool to senior high school, public and private; shift to modular)

Iloilo:

  • Barotac Nuevo (preschool to senior high school, public and private)
  • Dumangas (all levels, public and private)
  • Iloilo City (no face-to-face classes for preschool to senior high school, public and private; shift to modular)
  • Maasin (all levels, public and private)
  • Miagao (all levels, public and private)

NEGROS ISLAND REGION

Negros Occidental:

Class Suspensions

The rest of MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region will experience occasional rains due to the monsoon, which may cause flash floods or landslides. Another storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday
