Man Arrested for Threatening to Leak Private Videos of Former Live-In Partner If She Refused to Meet Him
A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening his former live-in partner with the release of their intimate videos.
On Wednesday afternoon (September 11, 2024), the 19-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono, Rizal for allegedly threatening and physically harming his former live-in partner, intending to spread intimate videos of them.
According to Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun, the Rizal PNP provincial director, the victim sought help from local barangay officials. This prompted the Angono Police to respond quickly. The victim reported that she had been mistreated by her ex-partner and was threatened with the release of private videos if she did not meet him again.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect had been in a relationship for over three years but separated in July. The suspect allegedly threatened to leak their intimate videos if the victim did not comply with his demands.
During the arrest, authorities also confiscated an improvised shotgun and a sachet of suspected marijuana from the suspect.
The suspect admitted to using illegal drugs and possessing the improvised shotgun but denied physically harming the victim. He did acknowledge blackmailing his former partner, claiming that the victim had been abusive towards him, which led to a physical confrontation.
He further claimed that he had threatened to spread the intimate videos unless she explained herself and admitted to seeing another man.
The suspect is now being held at the Angono Custodial Facility and faces multiple charges, including illegal possession of firearms, violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.
