Carla Abellana Calls Out “Pet-Friendly” Establishments

Following the issue of Balay Dako, Carla Abellana shares this post.

Kapuso actress and animal advocate, Carla Abellana calls out establishments claiming they are “pet-friendly” but selective.

No pets deserve to be turned away for being an Aspin is the cry of many pet lovers online. This is after the post of a pet owner went viral online after a “pet-friendly” restaurant denied her Aspin dog entry to the restaurant.

Balay Dako’s issue continues to fuel public outrage because of their pet policy bias. The Tagaytay restaurant reportedly barred an aspin from entering their space, this is despite the dog has met the medium size requirement and with proof that dogs from bigger breeds were previously allowed.

A statement from Balay Dako was issued but was widely criticized as netizens felt it was insincere and poorly crafted.

Heart Evangelista’s Panda, also an aspin, also “reacted” to this. Heart herself sent love for Yoda, the aspin that was turned away, and expressed that she wanted Yoda be invited by her Panda for high tea.

Recently, another animal advocate expressed her thoughts about this. Kapuso actress Carla Abellana, a dog lover and one who also owns an aspin shared a story and called out those establishments that claim they are pet-friendly but selective in breeds.

In her post, she introduced Fly, her adopted aspin resembling a shih tzu. When Fly and her brother Wing were rescued, she did not give any hesitations in adopting both after seeing them.

However, Fly has now crossed the rainbow bridge.

In the caption, she expressed that they matter regardless of a dog’s breed. All dogs are one and the same as per her words. Towards the end of her post, she said, “P.S. Dear establishments, please do not advertise as “pet friendly” if in fact you are breed-particular. Thank you.”

It’s a reminder that inclusivity should extend to everyone, including the fur babies.
