Cops Arrest Man Posing as Homeless for Robbing Family Who Took Him In Marikina
A man pretending to be homeless was arrested in Quezon City after allegedly robbing a family in Marikina who had taken him in.
The police authorities arrested a man in Quezon City for allegedly robbing a family who took him in. The suspect’s strategy involved pretending to be in need of shelter and offering to work for the families he targeted.
In April, the suspect was welcomed by a family in Marikina, who gave him a place to stay and a job. However, instead of showing gratitude, he stole from them. Security footage from the family’s home captured the suspect taking various items, including cellphones, laptops, power tools, and cash. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated to be around P150,000.
The homeowner’s son shared that his father had taken in the suspect, who claimed to be a painter and showed an ID to support his claim. The family never expected that the kindness they showed would be repaid with betrayal.
The suspect was eventually caught in Cubao, Quezon City. According to the police, he was likely searching for a new target at the time of his arrest. Authorities described him as a notorious thief who uses the guise of being a scavenger in Cubao to find potential victims.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had used the same method to rob another family in Pasig. However, the victims in that case chose not to file charges.
Eastern Police District Director Brigadier General Wilson Asuetam advised the public to be cautious when taking in strangers and to thoroughly check their background.
The incident serves as a reminder to be vigilant all the time and protect one’s family and home from potential harm.
