PAGASA Says Tropical Storm Enteng to Bring Rains Over Most Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau has raised Signal No. 2 in several areas due to Tropical Storm Enteng.

On Tuesday (September 3, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Enteng will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Enteng was last spotted over the coastal waters of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph. It is moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.

However, Enteng is expected to intensify once it crosses the West Philippine Sea.

“ENTENG is forecast to continue moving generally west northwestward over the next 24 hours and is expected to turn westward over the West Philippine Sea starting tomorrow (4 September) until it reaches Hainan, China on Saturday (7 September),” PAGASA said.

The tropical storm is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday morning (September 4, 2024).

Enteng is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring moderate to intense rainfall over parts of Luzon over the next three days.

Strong to gale-force gusts are expected over Ilocos Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island, and Northern Samar.

The weather system is expected to maintain a tropical storm category but may become a severe tropical storm by Tuesday afternoon or evening, and a typhoon category by Thursday (September 5, 2024).

  • The northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya

The coastal water condition over the western seaboard of Central Luzon and the western seaboard of Visayas will be moderate to rough. The eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
