Lindsay Slater, a 31-year-old bride from Mansfield, Nottingham, England, chose to continue with her special day without the groom.
Slater and her fiancé had been together for twelve years and were set to marry on August 17, 2024. But just days before the wedding, Lindsay discovered that her groom, who was 36 years old, had cheated on her.
When Lindsay confronted him, he left their home, leaving her heartbroken. Initially, Lindsay considered canceling the wedding, but instead, she decided to turn the event into a “celebration of freedom.”
Surrounded by her family and friends, the bride celebrated her new beginning. The wedding, which cost P2.6 million (about $46,000), went ahead without a groom, but the love from her guests made it a memorable day.

Lindsay wore a beautiful Charlotte Elizabeth bridal gown worth P85,000 ($1,500). Around 60-70 people attended the reception, which included a sit-down meal, speeches, dancing, and singing. Despite the circumstances, Lindsay felt supported by those closest to her.
After the event, Lindsay and her friend Beth Paige, who shared the wedding highlights on TikTok, went on what was supposed to be Lindsay’s honeymoon. They spent seven days in Crete, Greece, enjoying their time together.
