On Saturday (August 31, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that a Low-Pressure Area was spotted east of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over the western sections of Southern Luzon, Palawan, Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.
“Sa kasalukuyan ay patuloy rin ang pag-iral ng southwest monsoon sa kanlurang bahagi ng southern Luzon at Visayas ngayong araw. Dahil sa pinagsamang epekto nitong low-pressure area at hanging habagat asahan natin ang matataas na tsansa ng pag-ulan isa ilang bahagi ng ating bansa,” Daniel James E. Villamil said.
Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Occidental Mindoro.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.
