Elderly Man Expresses Frustration After Person Who Assisted Him Steals His Withdrawn Money
SCAMMER – An elderly man was disheartened after the person who assisted him took the money he had withdrawn.
Recently, Jessa Marfega, a Facebook user, shared heartbreaking photos of an elderly man who was scammed while trying to withdraw money from an ATM in Polangui, Albay. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
According to Marfega, a woman who pretended to help the elderly man at a PNB ATM ended up stealing his money. She noticed that the elderly man had been inside the bank for a long time and decided to check on him.
The concerned netizens found out that a woman had offered to help because the elderly man’s ATM card was supposedly broken. While the woman was explaining the situation, she left the elderly man with only a receipt, and she took off with P4,000 that he had just withdrawn.
“Iniwan na lamang daw si tatay na may hawak na resibo at sa kasamaang palad, natangay ng scammer ang P4,000 na perang kanyang na-withdraw,” the post reads.
Many people who saw the post felt sorry for the elderly man and expressed their concerns online. They hope the stolen money will be recovered and that the scammer will be caught soon.
“Sa nag Assist kay Tatay kanina sa PNB Polangui ,sana usigin ka ng Kunsensya mo,” Marfega said.
The incident reminds everyone to be extra careful with banking transactions. It’s important not to trust strangers who offer unsolicited help, especially when it comes to handling personal information like ATM cards and PINs.
The authorities advised the public to always make sure you’re the only one handling your financial details to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
