This video of Vice Ganda has this message that caught the attention of many people online.
Famous ABS-CBN artist-host Vice Ganda has this video shared online that seemed to tackle a very relatable issue.
Several typhoons come to the Philippines every year which makes flooding a usual sight during the rainy season. At times like this, the resilience of the Filipino people is shown to which, most of the times, inspires a lot of people, with the recent one that happened during the time of Typhoon Carina.
We see a lot of people still displaying their warm smiles no matter how hard the situation was, their strength to stand up a day or two after a calamity, finding alternative sources of income, and others but really, these things are not the indications that everything’s fine the way it is.
Behind the positive reputation of “Filipino spirit” is a pill that’s hard to swallow – accepting the bare minimum and not creating any proactive approach that should start with the government.
However, how far can the people’s resilience go? Should the people just settle with this kind of situation every year with no changes at all? Where do the taxes go? What does the government do?
In the recent video of Vice Ganda, many people talked about the sarcasm it contained while it tackled the problems of the country. As seen, clips from the recent flooding were included and the following clips showed the character of “Yormeme”.
Yormeme was speaking to the media with empath in her voice as they converse about her constituents. As the head of the city, all she did was just to provide relief goods for the calamity victims and something she’s been doing ever since as if not aware of the pattern – calamity, resilience, relief goods, and repeat.
She knew about the situation that have been repeatedly happening every year and when asked about the solution to break the pattern, her answer was, “Alam mo kasi, mahirap isipin ang solusyon. Kaya ang gagawin ko na lang ay mamimigay na lang ulit ako ng paulit-ulit na relief goods. Mga hygiene kits at sardinas.”
