Man Lost His Life After Being Hit by Bus While Trying to Escape Crime
A man who allegedly held up two lending collectors in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon lost his life after being hit by a bus while attempting to escape.
Robbery is a crime that involves taking property or money from another person through force, intimidation, or threats. It is a serious offense and is considered a violent crime because it involves direct confrontation with the victim and the use or threat of violence.
Recently, a holdup suspect in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon met a tragic end while attempting to escape after victimizing two lending collectors.
The incident started when the suspect reportedly approached the collectors and forcefully took their bag, which contained a huge amount of money. Not only did he steal their bag, but he also made off with their motorcycle, using it as his getaway vehicle.
As the suspect sped away, he tried to cross a busy road. In his hurry, he failed to notice an oncoming bus. The bus hits him with such force that he was immediately thrown off the motorcycle and was pinned under the vehicle. Bystanders quickly informed the authorities about the incident.
Police Major Joann Navarro, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), reported that the suspect was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
“Automatically, ma-extinguish na ang kaniyang criminal liability dahil namatay naman siya,” said Navarro.
When police arrived at the scene, they recovered a .45 caliber handgun from the suspect, as well as the stolen bag belonging to the victims. The authorities confirmed that the suspect’s criminal liability would no longer be pursued due to his death.
